GOLF'S NEW GLOBAL COMPETITIVE FORMAT

PowerPlay Golf is best described as golf’s answer to Twenty20 cricket, the short format of cricket currently taking the global professional sport by storm. Many sports have similarly evolved to reflect the pace and style of modern life. 5-a-side football, 7-a-side rugby and Turbo Tennis are just some of the examples. Golf hasn’t changed in 100 years or more and trends in the game, both at amateur and professional levels reflect a need for something new.

A clear indication of the strength of this need was the reaction to the launch of PowerPlay Golf in February 2007. Within days of a small group of UK journalists playing PowerPlay Golf for the first time the story had travelled the world and stimulated a global interest.

PowerPlay Golf will be developed in three different areas: the amateur game, through the www, and the professional game. Courses will be licensed to host PowerPlay Golf, the www will be used to deliver the PowerPlay Golf World Ranking System, to which all players will have access, and events will be created for the professional game using existing tournament infrastructure where possible.

In order to prepare for the global roll out a pilot programme was delivered in the UK during the summer. 190 courses were introduced to the game and 140 have subsequently signed license agreements. Players have been very positive. Indeed Crown Golf, the UK’s largest golf course operator, hosted the inaugural PowerPlay Golf National Championships and attracted over 1,000 competitors within 2 weeks. During this time interest was received by 44 countries, golf’s governing bodies expressed support, PowerPlay Golf has been regularly featured in the media and on television, sponsor and investor interest has been high as has the interest in agency/franchise agreements for different countries.

By mid-2008 PowerPlay Golf will be introduced to all the significant golf playing countries in the world, the PowerPlay Golf World Ranking System will be launched, and the pilot professional event will have taken place. For information on the game and where to play go to www.powerplay-golf.com.

Playgolf Holdings Plc has a 25% stake in PowerPlay Golf Limited. It is likely that Playgolf shares will be the only route to public investment in PowerPlay Golf.
